By default VisualRoute provides three types of world maps. Traceroute locations are plotted on a map for every traceroute.

The ability to add a map allows the user to add their own.

This can be useful when using VisualRoute for internal traceroutes or wanting to visualize a company network.

For example a user might upload a map consisting of data centers across the globe or a specific network map. VisualRoute allows the user to assign specific coordinates to certain IP addresses so when a traceroute occurs points are still plotted.
