IPv6
VisualRoute 2008 is IPv6 compatible — see traceroute, ping, reverse DNS and Whois lookups for IPv6 addresses and network hosts.

MULTIPLE TEST SERVERS
The Business and SupportPro editions include the ability to perform connection tests from various Visualware testing servers.

The multiple testing points help identify poor performing network routes or devices.

CONTINUOUS PERFORMANCE TESTING FROM REMOTE SYSTEMS
The Server NOC edition's AutoTime NTA™ (Network Test Agent) performs automated remote testing of corporate and global networks from multiple network locations anywhere in the world.

All data collected is reported to the VisualRoute performance database for review and analysis. This enables Network Operations Centers (NOCs) to quickly and clearly see the performance and quality of vital networks.

It is recommended that you keep your Java VM up to date by installing the latest version available for your computer system.

Sun Java JRE (recommended) v1.4 or later: The Sun Java Runtime Environment (JRE) is included with VisualRoute for Windows and does not need to installed separately. If you prefer to download and install the latest J2SE (Java 2 Platform, Standard Edition) JRE for your system, please see http://www.java.com/en/download/download_the_latest.jsp.

To check if you already have Sun's JVM installed, or to find the version number:

  • Go to http://java.com/en/download/help/testvm.xml, or

  • Open a DOS prompt and type java -version [enter]. If Sun's JVM is present it will give you a version number.
