VisualRoute 2007 includes the ability to add your own map image, a powerful capability for analyzing connection paths on a distributed network and viewing the actual devices where problems occur. The custom map feature is available in the Business and SupportPro Editions. Custom maps may be a diagram such as a network topology, or geographical, such as a country, region or state/province. Image formats may be BMP, GIF, JPG and WMF. For diagram based images like a business private network, you can easily define coordinates on the map as IP addresses, so when a trace is performed VisualRoute will show the route across the defined routers, firewalls, servers and other device symbols of your network. For a geographical map you can define latitude and longitude parameters, which will enable VisualRoute to plot the route for IP locations identified on your map image. You may also define a zoom range (from <1:1 to >1:1) for your map image. This is useful in building a network map that includes multiple data centers, zooming allows you to drill down to the final destination to view more detail. MAP DOWNLOADS: The sample map below is provided as an example of a network diagram that may be used with VisualRoute 2007, additional maps are planned. To use, download the map then go to the Maps, Add Map menu option in VisualRoute. More information.
