The first section of this dialog is where you enter the name for the map you are adding and browse to the maps location. The supported image files are .bmp, .jpg, .gif and .wmf.
The next section has three parts to it.
The first needs to be checked if the map you have added is another world map. If you are adding a world map then this section is used to specify the area of the world that your custom map covers.
The second part, when checked, will allow the custom map to be zoomed. You can set the minimum and maximum zoom in this section too.
The third part is what color you want the lines that get plotted on the map to be.
Once all the options have been chosen click the ok button to save the map.
Select Map

The select map dialog is used to choose which map to display in VisualRoute. The image above shows the drop down menu where this is done. Any map chosen can then be set to default by using the set as default check box. This means every time VisualRoute starts it will use the map that is set to default.
If a custom map is chosen then the Edit Map, Remove Map and Add Map Points buttons become available.
When the map required has been chosen click the ok button to save the changes.
Add Addresses to Map

The Add Addresses to Map dialog is primarily used when a world map is not the chosen map. For example a network map of an office infrastructure maybe used. When this is the case the IP address or IP address ranges that will be used need to have corresponding locations on the custom map/image.
The first step is to choose the map/image from the drop down menu. Once this has been done the map/image will appear in the bottom of the dialog.
The next step is to click the new rule button as shown in the image above. This will bring up the dialog box below

The dialog above is used to pin point locations on the map/image and then assign an IP address/IP range to a location on the map/image.
To do this first enter the IP address or IP Range in the first text box at the top of the dialog shown above.
Once this has been done use the mouse cursor and click the location on the map/image that the IP address/IP range relates to. The coordinates will automatically be filled in.
When this has been done click ok to save the changes, then repeat the process each time a new location is needed. |
