VoIP Test Configuration

The test configuration options are available when creating a custom test.

Number of lines to simulate: This parameter defines the number of VoIP lines to simulate. This effectively multiplies the payload of the test.

Codec to simulate: This selection allows the payload codec to be defined. There is a custom ('other') option to accommodate a non standard codec if required.

Test duration: This parameter defines the length of the VoIP test in seconds. Maximum allowed is 90 seconds.

Packet discard time: This parameter defines a maximum time limit for the acceptance of packets that arrive late, after which the packet is recorded as discarded.

Omit the first: This parameter defines the number of initial packets to exclude for the test measurement. This allows the test to compensate for any connection ramp time that may affect the test results.

DSCP Bits: The DSCP bits dictate how the routers should prioritize the traffic. The precise effect of this setting will vary between networks, but it's basically about being able to manage traffic more effectively so that the time-sensitive data is prioritized when it needs to be. SIP Simulation: These SIP simulation options provide a synthetic measurement if the Register, Invite and Bye SIP sessions.
